More than 600 crimes judged in Cuanhama

Africa-Press – Angola. Six hundred and 42 criminal cases, out of the 1,900 that were filed in 2022, were tried by the District Court of Cuanhama, Cunene province, said Wednesday, its president, Afonso Pinto.

In total, 351 cases were judged in the family area, 185 in the criminal area, 94 in the civil and administrative area, 11 in the juvenile court and one in the work area.

The President of the Court referred that another 1,475 cases are in progress, with the trial due to take place this year, involving, among others, crimes of theft, cattle theft, sexual violations and homicides.

According to the magistrate, Cunene province needs 25 judges, to speed up the handling of cases.

Currently, the court has under its supervision 2,270 cases, of which 1,60 carried over from 2021.

Inaugurated in 2019, the Cuanhama District Court coordinates the entire province of Cunene and has seven judges.
