Africa-Press – Angola. Two thousand 104 criminal cases of a different nature were filed, in the first half of this year, at the Attorney General’s Office (PGR), in Cunene province, 53 less compared to the same period in 2021.

Most criminal cases, with 748 detainees, result from cases of theft and robbery of cattle, rape of minors and homicides.

Speaking to the press, the deputy attorney general in Cunene, Américo Kassoma, explained that, among the cases, the record of one crime of embezzlement and 16 of an economic nature stands out.

He made it known that, in the family field, 215 cases had been filed, of which 84 were for the establishment of affiliation, 31 for parental authority regulations, 23 for mandatory guardianship and 27 for maintenance. The magistrate stated that there is a need for an internment center for minors in conflict with the law, in the province, for better monitoring of these children. In the context of the fight against corruption, he clarified that the PGR has been monitoring 21 criminal cases of embezzlement, since 2020, of which some are already in court and others are in preparatory instruction, involving managers and former public managers, still at large.

Américo Kassoma underlined that crimes of embezzlement require the cooperation of State institutions, so that there is clear evidence and no omission of information.

The PGR in Cunene province has 14 magistrates and 38 justice technicians.
