Africa-Press – Angola. Two thousand and 28 diamonds of different carats were seized in Lunda Norte province, by defense and security bodies, in 2022, as part of the fight against trafficking and illicit exploitation of the mineral.
According to the balance sheet of the Delegation of the Interior, 49 thousand and 751 US dollars were also seized.
The note informs that 164 nets, 176 shovels, 50 mine bars, 38 rolls of synthetic rope, three bucket motors, 14 motor pumps, three buoys, 14 diamond weighing scales, seven diving suits, four triage.
The seized means include eight diamond testing machines, 17 magnifying glasses, 17 calculating machines, a counterfeit dollar testing machine, two diamond color testing machines, 182 hooks, 41 muzuas, four sieves, among other means used by the alleged dealers.
The diamonds and means seized, the note continues, were handed over to the “Operation Transparency” Listing Commission.
The document states that the Minint bodies will continue to strengthen the combat mechanisms, aiming to put an end to diamond mining outbreaks in the region, appealing to the collaboration of the population.
