Africa-Press – Angola. The province of Moxico has, as of (Monday), a Delegation of the Federation of Former Combatants and Veterans of the Homeland of Angola (FACVPA), opened in the city of Luena, by the secretary general of this organisation, Vicente Júnior.
The FACVPA, created in 2014, is a non-governmental foundation made up of all associations representing the country’s former soldiers (FAPLA and FAA, retired paramilitary and intelligence forces, among others), to safeguard the rights of members, and the delegation from Moxico will be led by the brigadier in reform, Manuel Jamba.
Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony, witnessed by the provincial governor, Ernesto Muangala, the General Secretary of the FACVPA, Vicente Júnior, defended the need to reinforce improvements in the socio-economic conditions of former combatants, through the involvement of this segment in social projects.
“The social conditions of former combatants are not desirable, we want more involvement from the Executive in solving the problems that afflict them”, he maintained.
In the same vein, the newly sworn in provincial delegate of the FACVPA in Moxico, Manuel Jamba, promised to work to guarantee greater access for family members of affiliates to social services, with greater domain of health and education.
“We are going to work hard to minimize these problems”, ́he reinforced.
The Federation of Former Combatants and Veterans of the Homeland of Angola (FACVPA) controls more than 100,000 former military personnel in retirement across the country, with Moxico province, according to the institution, being the second region with the highest number of veterans from the homeland, followed by Luanda.
