Africa-Press – Angola. The activist Maria de Fatima Zangata was, this Friday, elected provincial secretary of the Angolan Women’s Organization (OMA), in Moxico, the MPLA’s women’s association.
During the first extraordinary Provincial Assembly of the OMA, Maria Zangata was elected with 310 votes in favor (99 percent), replacing Tereza Mulumbila. The new leader will be assisted by Jamba António.
On the occasion, the new leader promised to work to maintain discipline, cohesion within the organization, as well as strengthening the bases for the party’s growth.
For his part, the first provincial secretary of the MPLA, Ernesto Muangala, called on activists to pay greater attention to issues that place women at the center of priorities, through the implementation of literacy campaigns, investment in entrepreneurship, contributing to the diversification of the economy national.
The OMA, he continued, must continue to raise awareness among women about the exercise of citizenship and active participation in political and social life, for the country’s development.
