Parliamentary activity must be guided, permanently, by the high sense of commitment to the country, uncompromising defense of the highest interests of the Angolan people, in the terms and modalities defended by the MPLA, defended yesterday, in the city of Cuito, Bié province, the deputy president of the “comrades” party, Luísa Damião.
When speaking at the solemn opening session of that party’s II Parliamentary Days, representing President João Lourenço, which runs until Friday, the MPLA’s second figure also reiterated the holding of the party’s Extraordinary Congress for December this year.
The vice-president of the MPLA reminded the deputies that the Parliamentary Group is the body that the Party entrusts with defending its political line and general strategy at the level of Parliament and beyond, which requires respect for hierarchy, vertical dialogue , but above all fraternal and horizontal, which favors unity of thought and action.
The parliamentary days, he said, represent a sublime moment, as they bring together a set of activities that contribute to strengthening the internal life of the Party and reinforcing its insertion in communities and Angolan society in general.
Luísa Damião said that dynamics are generated during the conferences leading to the continuous improvement of the tasks carried out by the deputies, whether in relation to the sense of party orientation, the leader’s strategic vision, or in relation to strategies for interacting with society.
The event’s speakers are the Minister of State and Chief of Staff of the President of the Republic, Adão de Almeida, the secretary of the Political Bureau for Political and Electoral Affairs, João de Almeida Azevedo “Jú Martins”, and the members of BP, Carlos Feijó, Manuel Nunes Júnior.
Present at the opening session were the first provincial secretary, Pereira Alfredo, the president of the Parliamentary Group, Joaquim Reis Júnior, members of the Political Bureau Secretariat, the Minister of Territorial Administration, Dionísio da Fonseca, the second provincial secretary, Milton Capama, as well as the members of the Executive Committee of the Provincial Committee.
The party leader asked the members of the party’s Parliamentary Group to have a high sense of responsibility, commitment to the country, and, above all, to continue to uncompromisingly defend the best interests of the people they represent in the House of Laws.
Therefore, he assured, the trust placed by the people, since always, in the MPLA, allows the party to continue to fulfill the motto of “serving the people and making Angola grow”.
Extraordinary Congress
According to Luísa Damião, holding the MPLA summit meeting at the end of the year will serve to assess, in depth, the party’s future achievements, taking into account the challenges that lie ahead for party formation until 2027.
“The party’s competent bodies are oriented to convene an Extraordinary Congress for the end of the year, which will evaluate in depth the future of the MPLA”, explained Luísa Damião.
The vice-president of the MPLA also said, during the activity that brings together the 124 deputies that make up that party’s parliamentary bench in the capital of Bié, that the political organization remains strong and committed to permanently resolving the problems of the people, who have entrusted their destiny of the country to a “responsible and cohesive party like the MPLA”.
Luísa Damião recalled that the deputies represent the people who elect them, and, in view of this, they must always keep this desire in mind, and they must be responsible for defending the political line and general strategy of those they represent.
