Africa-Press – Angola. The Political Bureau of the MPLA expressed this Monday (24th) its dismay at the death of politician Francisco Vieira Dias, a former member of the Central Committee of this formation, which took place on Saturday (22nd), in Luanda, due to illness, at the age of 80.
In a note released, the Political Bureau of the MPLA underlines its commitment to party-political actions, as a militant with strong convictions who dedicated a large part of his life to the service of political training.
He also refers that Francisco Vieira Dias was also a committed trade unionist and defender of the most sublime interests of the Party and the Angolan Nation.
Over the years, he held various management and leadership positions in the MPLA structure, of which he was a member of the Political Bureau, and in the governmental sphere, with emphasis on those of First Secretary of the MPLA in the provinces of Luanda and Cuanza Norte, accumulating, in the latter, with the functions of provincial Governor.
He also highlights his “integrity and unusual simplicity, as well as his affable manner in social dealings”.
With his work, he describes, “Francisco Vieira Dias joined the list of MPLA militants who, over time, paid great tribute to the cause of political training, fulfilling with zeal, dedication and a patriotic sense the missions entrusted to him, being responsible for the mobilization of various members who join their ranks”.
For this reason, the MPLA Political Bureau considers that the physical disappearance of this politician “constitutes an irreparable loss and leaves an impossible void to fill in the annals of the history of the Party leaders”.
In this sense, it is associated with the pain of the bereaved family, addressing heartfelt condolences.
