Africa-Press – Angola. The secretary of the MPLA’s Political Bureau for International Relations, Manuel Augusto, highlighted this Sunday, in Madrid, Spain, the actions taken by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, to promote peace and dialogue on the African continent.
When speaking at the meeting of the Council of the Socialist International, which is taking place in the Spanish capital, he highlighted that Angola is doing its best on the African continent.
He stressed that the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, in his capacity as Champion of the African Union for Peace and Reconciliation in Africa, “has spared no efforts to achieve lasting and sustainable peace in the Democratic Republic of Congo, in addition to put itself on the front line of the fight against the seizure of power through unconstitutional means”.
Manuel Augusto addressed the topic “Promoting International Peace and Security”, in a meeting chaired by the President of the Socialist International and the Spanish Government, Pedro Sanchez, with around two hundred participants.
At the meeting, which ends this Sunday, the decision was made to remove its general secretary, Benedicta Lasi, for internal reasons linked to management and discipline.
The MPLA, through its secretary for International Relations, holds one of the vice-presidencies of the Socialist International.
