MPLA reiterates commitment to development

Africa-Press – Angola. The vice-president of the MPLA, Luísa Damião, reiterated Tuesday that the party remains committed to the sustainable and harmonious development of the country, and to “fight” for a more democratic and inclusive Angola.

Luísa Damião reiterated this commitment during a mass event, in the city of Dundo, province of Lunda Norte, highlighting that the administrative and economic reforms underway in the country, since 2017, aim to provide short, medium and long-term responses to aspirations and desires. of the Angolan population.

“Having won yet another electoral competition, we have new challenges in terms of party political action and, above all, government action, that is, materializing the commitments made in the last election”, he stressed.

According to Luísa Damião, it is necessary to focus on permanent interaction with citizens and a creative and innovative insertion in society, to identify solutions to the socioeconomic problems that afflict the population.

“Lunda Norte is the land of diamonds, but the main and true diamond we have are our young people who must be polished and converted into entrepreneurs who can shine in the job market and lend their knowledge and talent to the development of our country “, he highlighted.

Environmental issues, the creation of jobs for local youth, the transfer of the headquarters of mining projects and companies to the capital of the province of Lunda Norte and Lunda Sul, are issues that also raise the party’s concern.

He said it is essential to generate consensus in relation to the jobs that are created locally, especially through mining projects, “which cannot leave out local young people, in order to prevent them from fleeing to other places”.

“In Moxico, Lunda Sul and here in Lunda Norte, our youth are asking for more technical-professional training centers, more jobs, more housing, more banking products that can boost entrepreneurship, concerns that we consider legitimate, but which also lack the contribution from the entire society, as the State alone cannot do everything”, he said.

He recalled that the Angolan Executive is working hard to change the current situation of the national economy, the impact of which is expected to contribute to reducing the prices of basic food products and improving the lives of the population.

Luísa Damião has carried out an intense day of work in the eastern region of the country (Moxico, Lunda Sul and Lunda Norte), since last week, with the aim of evaluating compliance with the MPLA’s political agenda.
