Africa-Press – Angola. Angolan commercial banks will start issuing multi-brand debit payment cards called “Multicaixa/Mastercard”, for use in Angola and abroad, according to Empresa Interbancária de Serviços (EMIS).
According to the EMIS website, this partnership will allow the coexistence of two brands on a single payment card, issued by Angolan commercial banks, which means that whenever the multi-brand debit card is used in the national territory, it will be considered as “ Multicaixa debit card”.
In the same vein, when the card is used abroad it will be considered a “Mastercard debit card”, with all operations always linked to the holder’s payment account.
In this way, Multicaixa/Mastercard has the advantage of being universally accepted, making it a more comfortable payment instrument for users.
EMIS is the interbank services company that manages the Multicaixa Network and the Automated Clearing House of Angola (CCAA), which includes the Payment Card Management System (Multicaixa), the Credit Transfer System (STC), the Check Clearing System (SCC), Direct Debit System (SDD) and Instant Transfer System (STI).Meanwhile, Mastercard is an American multinational financial services company founded in 1966.
