Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of Territory Administration and State Reform, Dionísio Manuel da Fonseca, revealed this Thursday in Lubango, Huíla province, that, with administrative decentralization, municipal revenues rose from three million to more than 18 billion, in five years, representing an increase of 500 percent.
Speaking at the opening session of the Fourth Edition of the Feira dos Municípios e Cidades de Angola and 9th edition of the Forum, the minister detailed that, with the impact of these measures, local revenues are impressive, as, according to the Ministry of Finance, in 2017, the declared local totals were three million, 842 thousand, 384 kwanzas and in 2022 they rose to 18 billion, 597 million, 568 thousand.
He also declared that, with the institutionalization of the FMCA, the administration of the State experienced a new dynamic, which has deserved special attention from the President of the Republic, provincial governors and municipal administrators.
“The numbers are encouraging and encourage us to make this municipalization march, safe and firm, because it will be triumphant, since 3,92 transfer terms have already been made from provincial governments to municipal administrations, 10 licensing services that no longer be made by the central bodies and started to be made by the local ones”, he pointed out.
This dynamic, according to the minister who oversees the organization of the event, has been possible because the bodies of the State’s central administration, namely the ministerial department, have embraced the motto “Life is done in municipalities” and understood that administrative deconcentration is to solve people’s problems, increase production and ensure food security.
He recalled that the event, which brings together all the State administration bodies, is in its tenth year, but it is the first time that it takes place on the African Day of Decentralization and Local Development.
The municipalities, according to the minister, can contribute even more to the Gross Domestic Product with this ongoing process.
As for the fair itself, the minister noted that it created 1,327 temporary jobs and 100 percent occupancy in Huila hotel units, as 128 private exhibitors, 18 provincial governments and 164 municipalities are present in the 15,000 square meter space.
In turn, when welcoming visitors, the governor of Huíla, Nuno Mahapi, said that the city of Lubango opens its doors to receive visitors with enthusiasm and that the fair and forum of the municipalities are a true reflection of the diversity and potentiality of Angolan city halls.
He said it is an event that opens up opportunities to share experiences and learn about innovative projects, hoping that visitors, when exploring the city, live and take away memories.
