Africa-Press – Angola. The south-western Namibe Province is to host the 4th edition of the National Trova Music Festival on Saturday in the city of Moçâmedes, the director of the Provincial Office of Culture and Tourism, Aurélio Ngulawa, announced on Monday.
He said that the event which will take place at the São Fernando Fortress, is part of the National Heroes Day festivities and will feature artists from 16 provinces of the country.
The official revealed that Namibe has 12 artists of this musical genre, noting that earlier this month they participated in a trova event in the province, where they were able to represent the nine municipalities that comprise it.
“We will hold this competition at the São Fernandes fortress to fulfill our vision of holding events in historic sites that represent Namibe’s past. We have good musicians, most of them in Moçâmedes”, he added.
Aurélio Ngulawa stated that holding events of this type can influence other artists to become known and thus contribute to the revival of trova music in Namibe.
The winner of the previous edition, held in the province of Huambo, was Ezequiel “Balo”, from Namibe.
