Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan Football Federation (FAF) will introduce Frenchman Patrice Beaumelle as coach of the country’s national team on Monday, a source from the federation has told.

Beaumelle will sign a two-year contract and replace Portuguese coach Pedro Gonçalves, who led the national team for six years (2019–2025). He is the second Frenchman to coach the Angolan national team, after Hervé Renard, who he assisted in Angola in 2010.

During his coaching career in Africa, Beaumelle also served as assistant to compatriot Renard, coaching Côte d’Ivoire and Zambia to African championship victories.

Angola will not be participating in the World Cup this time around, having last played in the 2006 tournament in Germany.

The main objective of hiring the new coach is to lead the country at the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco in December 2025 and January 2026.
