Africa-Press – Angola. The chairman of the Parliamentary Commission for the Economy and Public Administration of Namibia, Hon Natangue Ithete, praised, this Tuesday, the growth of the Angolan economy in recent years and the promotion of investments in the country.

“We were here in the 1990s and we know the difficult situations Angola went through (civil war), but after this very challenging period Angola started to develop much faster, compared to our country”, he pointed out.

He informed that they came to Angola to learn a little more about the growth of its economy and the promotion of investments.

The Namibian politician said it was necessary to increasingly strengthen relations between the two countries, for whom the peoples of Angola and Namibia have a long history, whose relations began long before national independence, in 1975.

For you, the strengthening of these relationships should be done periodically through reciprocal visits.

“Angola has been with us since the most difficult times and I believe that it will never leave Namibia out, therefore, it would be an injustice if we had to go and learn from those who, before, colonized us (…)”, he stressed.

He stressed that the two countries and peoples continue to face challenges, there are areas in which they have been successful, “but there are others in which we still face challenges and we need to collaborate in order to overcome them for the benefit of our peoples”.

He made it known that the two countries have similar challenges regarding road, climbing, hospital infrastructure, among others.

Post-independence relations between Angola and Namibia were established immediately after Namibia’s proclamation of independence, with Angola being the first country to recognize and establish formal diplomatic relations with Namibia on 18 September 1990.
