Africa-Press – Angola. The new extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Angola to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Júlio Gomes Maiato, was accredited yesterday, in Abu Dhabi, by the President of this Persian Gulf State, Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
On the occasion, the Head of the Diplomatic Mission of Angola in the United Arab Emirates highlighted the high levels of cooperation achieved so far between the two countries, having emphasized the need to strengthen ties of friendship and bilateral cooperation in various areas, with a focus on strengthening of economic and business relations.
A press release from the embassy, said that the two countries intend to increase trade and attract more investors, as well as establish more cooperation agreements, preserving those already initialed.
The delivery of Letters of Credence of the fifth ambassador of Angola to the United Arab Emirates took place during a ceremony in which 16 other diplomats were also accredited.
The note stresses that, in addition to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the Embassy of the Republic of Angola also covers the State of Kuwait, the Kingdom of Bahrain, Afghanistan (currently the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan), and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, as well as such as the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), based in Abu Dhabi.
Diplomatic relations between Angola and the UAE were formally established on 11 January 1997.
Both countries are members of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and cooperate, among others, in the areas of oil, gas and agriculture.
