New lawyers receive professional certificates in Uíge

Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan Bar Association (OAA) in Uíge delivered, this Friday, at the capital headquarters of this province, definitive certificates to nine lawyers and provisional certificates to four interns.

With the delivery of these documents that enable professionals to practice law in the country, the province of Uíge now has 68 full-time lawyers and 112 interns.

At the ceremony to hand over the professional certificates, the OAA’s provincial delegate in the region, Landu Marcelo, without mentioning the number of lawyers needed for the province of Uíge, said only that it was insufficient to cover the 16 municipalities in the region.

He reported that 185 citizens have benefited, since January this year, from legal sponsorship and free legal consultations.

Addressing new lawyers, he asked them to adopt a stance that identifies with the profession, complying with ethical and moral principles, as well as guaranteeing the rights of citizens.

The new lawyer Leila Lukun promised to work and act rigorously in ensuring the administration of justice, as well as cultivating legal culture among the population.

As challenges for the year 2024, the OAA provincial delegation pointed to the expansion of free legal consultations in the municipalities of Buengas, Quimbele, Milunga, Cangola, and Sanza Pombo and other locations, aiming to raise citizens’ legal awareness and knowledge of their rights and duties .

The continuous training of professionals, aiming to better respond to the demand for legal services in the region, is another commitment of the OAA delegation in the region.
