Africa-Press – Angola. The new presiding judge of the Court of the District of Huambo, António Filipe Sebastião, was presented this Friday, in a ceremony marked by the handover of portfolios and chaired by the member of the Superior Council for the Judiciary, Fernando Gomes.

In the act, which took place in the court’s civil room, located in the lower part of the city of Huambo, the new presiding judge signed the book of inauguration, preceded by its presentation to the magistrates of this jurisdiction, made up of three districts, namely Huambo (headquarters) , Bailundo and Caála.

On the occasion, António Filipe Sebastião said that it was a mission that he would carry out, in collaboration with the other magistrates, to resolve local judicial problems.

He praised the role played by his predecessor, the guarantee judge Hélder Vicente da Silva, who, in his opinion, did a good job and which needs to be continued, so that this region continues to be one of the country’s judicial references.

During the presentation, the member of the CSMJ, Fernando Gomes, recognized the work carried out by the former president, between March 2021 and July of the current year, within the framework of safeguarding the rights of citizens.

He appealed to the new presiding judge of the District of Huambo to exercise behaviors that lead to the unity of the class, always bearing in mind the procedural movement.

Fernando Gomes explained that the presiding judges of the country’s districts exercise these functions in three rotating years.

He recalled that the presiding judge must report to the CSMJ, within the framework of his function as the main manager of the jurisdiction, complying with administrative rules and procedures for the management of public affairs.

With more than 17 years of magistracy, the judge of law António Filipe Sebastião, 62 years old, performed the duties of presiding judge of the Provincial Court of Benguela, until the date of his appointment to the Comarca of Huambo.

The judicial province of Huambo has 43 judges, ranging from guarantee, law and family, divided into three regions, namely the Comarca of Huambo (seat), with the integration of the municipalities of Cachiungo and Chicala-Cholohanga, that of Caála , which includes the municipalities of Longonjo, Ecunha, Ucuma and Chinjenje, and Bailundo, with Londuimbali and Mungo.
