Around nine thousand and 279 tons of various products, with emphasis on cassava, macundi beans, malanga potatoes, sweet potatoes, yams, peanuts, corn and table bananas, will be harvested in the current agricultural season in the municipality of Ngoio, in the province of Cabinda. The head of the Provincial Department of Agriculture, Fernando Paca, who gave the information to the press on the sidelines of the official launch ceremony of the Pés na Terra Project, said that the objective of the Government of the province of Cabinda is to encourage an increase in agricultural production in the region.
According to the official, for the current agricultural season, various products will be harvested in the municipality of Ngoio in an area of 30 hectares, with the involvement of one thousand and 60 farmers from the family sector.On the occasion, Governor Suzana de Abreu said that the province of Cabinda has all the conditions in place to promote various crops. Suzana de Abreu visited the agricultural fields in the localities of Nhungo Novo, Cafongo and Vale do Yabi, where she was informed about the agricultural potential of each region.
“Feet on the Ground” Project
The project is an important element that will allow the survey of the agricultural potential of the ten municipalities that make up the province of Cabinda.
For the governor of Cabinda, the creation of the “Feet on the Ground” project aims to improve the planning of actions that provide security, effectiveness and more precise results for agricultural policies. “With the investments of the Executive and its partners, significant growth has been possible in sectors such as agriculture, livestock, forestry, fisheries, the environment and rural trade,” she said.
The province of Cabinda is divided administratively into municipalities, communes and also urban districts. The municipalities include Cabinda, Cacongo, Buco Zau, Belize, Massabi, Miconje, Tando-Zinze, Necuto and Ngoio.
