Africa-Press – Angola. The homes for the elderly and children “Nossa Senhora das Mercês” made to the Catholic Church, located in the Maxinde neighbourhood, yesterday benefited from food donated by members of the Commission of the V National Day of the Family.
The offer includes pasta, corn flour, rice, crackers and other products.
The spokesperson for the delegation, Father Raúl Capande said that the Catholic Church remains concerned with the most disadvantaged, having guaranteed to continue with this kind of gesture.
In turn, the head of Lar das Mercês, Sister Dolores, thanked the initiative, taking into account that the gesture will help to overcome the food difficulties that the institution faces.
Currently, the Mercês Sisters’ Home controls 60 orphaned and abandoned children, while the elderly home has 35 elderly people.
