Africa-Press – Angola. The member countries of the Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OEACP), including Angola, this Thursday analyzed administrative and financial issues that hinder the normal functioning of the institution.

From Brussels, the event that took place in virtual format, and gathered the organization’s council of ministers.

According to a note from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the OEACP is going through a financial “squeeze”.

As an example, according to the note, of the more than two million euros that Member States should contribute by March 30 of the current year, only around 18% have been deposited to date.

Meanwhile, the meeting also appreciated the Report of the Committee of Ambassadors to the Council of Ministers on the project for the complete renovation of the OEACP headquarters building.

It also analyzed the draft decision of the Extraordinary Session of the Council of Ministers on the ACP House Project (ACP/25/006/23).

In this extraordinary session, the Angolan delegation was led by Domingos Custódio Vieira Lopes, Secretary of State for International Cooperation and Angolan Communities, on behalf of Téte António, head of Foreign Affairs.

The OEACP, formerly the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Group of States, is an organization created in 1976 by the Georgetown Agreement.

The Organization comprises 79 states from Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific, except Cuba, signatories to the Cotonou Agreement, also known as the “ACP-EC Partnership Agreement”, which binds them to the European Union.

The OEACP seeks the sustainable development of its member states, their gradual integration into the global economy, and the establishment of a new, fairer and more equitable world order.
