Africa-Press – Angola. The coordinator of the circle of deputies to the National Assembly in the province of Huambo, Armando Capunda, said Tuesday that the proposal for the General State Budget (OGE-2023) provides for resources for works to stop ravines.
The parliamentarian provided this information to the press, at the end of the visit made by the deputies of the Huambo Electoral Circle to the local office of Technical Services and Infrastructures, with the aim of finding out about its functioning and the main difficulties.
Recent data from the Office of Technical Services and Infrastructures indicate the control, since 2022, of around 15 ravines that represent, from a technical point of view, greater concern, as they present a very intense level of progression, especially in the municipalities of the Bailundo, Caala, Huambo and Longonjo.
Since then, they have threatened to compromise the circulation of the Benguela Railway train, in the Caála/Longonjo section, in addition to “swallowing”, likewise, 200 social housing in the municipality of Longonjo, part of the centralities of the Lossambo (Huambo) and Fernando Faustino Muteka (Caála), as well as other social infrastructures and private residences.
On the occasion, Deputy Armando Capunda explained that the aforementioned proposals have deserved special attention in the context of the discussion of the General State Budget (OGE-2023) that follows, at this moment, in the specialty.
Without specifying the expected amount, he said that he was waiting for the final approval of the OGE-2023 and the consequent rapid availability of financial resources for the start of work to contain the spread of the ravines, with a view to protecting public and private property. , which are at risk of collapsing.
He added that the budget proposal for the province of Huambo also foresees, among other actions, the rehabilitation of the bridge that gives access to the Quissala market (commonly known as Alemania), the conclusion of the asphalting of the Cuima/Cusse road.
There are also prospects for earthworks on the road that gives access to the Catanguenha landfill, on the outskirts of the city of Huambo, over a 30 kilometer journey.
In turn, the director of the local office for Technical Services and Infrastructure, Francisco Neto, said that survey studies had been carried out on 12 of the 15 rabbis, through the Ministry of Public Works, Urbanism and Housing, whose proposals for stagnation were inserted in the budget forecast of the province, during its elaboration.
The deputies of the Huambo Electoral Circle also visited the Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries office, with the aim of verifying its functioning, where they were informed, by its director, Tony Camuti, about the various difficulties that the institution faces, with emphasis on the scarcity of human resources, lack of transport and funding for research and investigation work for the development of the sector.
In compliance with the work agenda, the parliamentarians had, on Monday, a courtesy meeting with the governor of Huambo province, Lotti Nolika, after which they visited the Health office.
