Oil Strategy Grants Concessions for 35 Blocks

Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan oil sector has already granted 35 oil block concessions, six (6) of which were carried out this year. This mechanism is part of the strategy adopted by the Government to reverse the decline in oil production.

The Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Diamantino Pedro Azevedo, said yesterday in Luanda that the country’s target of producing 1.1 million barrels/day will be maintained, and that the most recent indicators provide effective guarantees.

At the end-of-year greetings ceremony held at the Ministry’s headquarters, Diamantino Pedro Azevedo announced that the oil sector grew by more than 7.0 percent of projections between January and November.

“In terms of prospects for 2025, in the area of oil production, the sector will continue to develop actions to boost and intensify the replenishment of reserves, mitigating the effects of the drop in production. We will continue to promote investment in exploration and production, to maintain production levels above one million barrels per day,” he said.

In the diamond sector, we will continue to support producers to increase production, accelerate the entry into production of new projects, increase diamond cutting capacity by building new cutting plants in the country and work on creating suitable conditions to attract more investment to this activity.

In relation to other resources, the Ministry’s commitment for 2025 is to continue to promote more prospecting and exploration projects.

Diamantino Azevedo stated that “as we prepare for the new year, I renew our Ministry’s commitment to continue working tirelessly for the sustainable development of Angola. We are determined to face future challenges with the same tenacity, focus and teamwork, seeking opportunities that benefit our entire Nation”.

On the occasion, the workers presented a message of congratulations to the minister and the entire team of assistants (secretaries of state, PCA, directors) and, in particular, highlighted the recent election of “African Minister of the Year 2024”, chosen by Leadership Africa Magazine.
