ORD Group intends to invest in agriculture in Bengo

Africa-Press – Angola. The Chinese business group ORD has reserved 50 million dollars to invest in the agricultural sector in the province of Bengo.

This investment will begin this year. We will need more than 20 thousand hectares for cassava production, reported Thursday, in Caxito, the PCA of the ORD group, Lin Fanlian, at the end of a meeting he held with the governor of Bengo, Maria Antónia Nelumba.

“We have already prepared 50 million dollars and are now raising funds for this project. Everything will depend on government policies which, if they are good, we can increase our investment”, said the person in charge.

He recalled that the group has already invested 50 million USD in the province of Bengo where it has an industrial park in the commune of Barra do Dande, with mosaic, cardboard box, enamel, styrofoam factories and a transport company.

A material factory for the production of disposable diapers is also installed on site.

In the future, the person responsible said, the group intends to invest in the production of clean energy in the province, to improve the company’s investment.

“We will analyze and carry out a survey to invest in this area in the future”, he said.

The governor of the province of Bengo, Maria Antónia Nelumba, said that the investment intention presented by the Ord group will be analyzed by the body she heads.

Maria Nelumba intends for the project to be developed in such a way that, in addition to agricultural mechanization, small farmers are also included in order to guarantee more jobs.

Regarding the twinning agreement between the provinces of Bengo and Shandong (China), he said they were advanced and, he stressed, “there is already authorization to sign the agreement in the coming months”.

The agreement provides for professional training, training and investments in several areas.
