Africa-Press – Angola. The director of the Support to Civil Society and Local Administration in Angola (PASCAL) project, Pablo Lopez Dean, Monday in Lubango encouraged organizations to present their participatory and inclusive governance projects for subsidy.
The official was speaking during a meeting with more than 60 members of various civil society organizations in Huíla to clarify applications for the project’s subsidy system.
During the presentation, the director of PASCAL stated that interested parties should present initiatives on participatory governance, innovation and awareness of the population on civic participation.
He referred that they intend to finance one project per province, out of the five where the project is inserted and the budget is 200 thousand euros for each, which makes a total of one million euros for all selected regions.
With regard to applications for grants for projects that civil society organizations must submit, Pablo Lopez Dean said that they run until April 13 of the current year and the winning initiatives will have a duration of 14 months of implementation.
In Huíla, he made it known that they will work in the municipalities of Humpata, Lubango, Cacula, Caconda and Chibia, hence the civil society organizations that apply will have to focus on the areas mentioned, in addition to being legalized and national. .
PASCAL started in June 2021, since then the foundations of the project have been created, installation and hiring of teams, relations with the administration of the country’s territory, and its actions will run until June 2025.
The initiative, in partnership with the European Union, aims, among others, to contribute to the socio-economic growth and development of municipalities, as well as to allow for the inclusive and effective participation of civil society in the local governance process.
The project has funding of 5 million 800 thousand euros from the European Union, covers five provinces of the country, namely Benguela, Huambo, Huíla, Luanda and Malanje, and 25 municipalities.
The PASCAL project has three fundamental axes, namely strengthening local public administration, supporting civil society and training the country’s governing bodies.
