Petro "takes off" victory in the final seconds

Africa-Press – Angola. Petro de Luanda’s senior women’s handball team won, this Thursday, 1.o de Agosto, by 18-17, a result found in the last ten seconds of the match, played at Paulo Bunze pavilion.

The “military” team, who played at home, ended up failing in the final, after leading the scoreboard throughout the match, in a game for the sixth round of the Luanda Provincial Handball Championship.

Dominating, despite the very young team in relation to the opponent, the “Red-Blacks” even had an 8-1 advantage, reaching the break to win, by 10-6.

In the second half, the “tricolors” reduced the disadvantage and with a more efficient posture in the attack, they forced the hostesses to defend in block.

Now with goalkeeper Bá on the field, replacing Swelly Simão, the home team started to have more difficulties in finishing.

As a result of two two-minute exclusions, Petro de Luanda recovered, tied the game at 17 points and in the last ten seconds scored the winning goal. Before that, 1.o de Agosto failed an attack in which it could have equaled the challenge.

With this triumph, Petro takes the lead with 12 points, followed by 1.o de Agosto, with two less.

In the same venue, the B team of 1.o de Agosto tied 24 goals with Sporting de Luanda.
