Africa-Press – Angola. Eighty citizens of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) were questioned last weekend by the Border Guard Police (PGF), in the province of Zaire, for attempting to enter the national territory illegally.

Of this number, 49 are men and 31 are women, says a report by the Provincial Delegation of the Interior, which press had access to this Monday, in Mbanza Kongo.

The occurrences, adds the note, took place at the border posts of Luvo, Kanga and Mpala, in the municipalities of Mbanza Kongo and Nóqui.

He also mentions that, in the same period, the Border Guard Police in Zaire proceeded to apprehend 800 liters of fuel, 40 disposable packaging and 200 pairs of different shoes for attempting to smuggle goods.

Every week, dozens of DRC citizens are questioned by the security forces deployed at various border posts in the province of Zaire with the neighboring country, for attempting to illegally enter Angola.

Many of these illegal immigrants are engaged in clandestine trade and the unbridled slaughter of flora and fauna in the national territory.

Some seek to reach the country’s capital (Luanda) and then move on to other continents.

Recently, the national commander of the Border Guard Police, Chief Commissioner José Domingos Moniz, announced, in Mbanza Kongo, the acquisition by the Government of new technological tracking equipment, to be installed along the border limits.

Four municipalities in the province of Zaire, namely Mbanza Kongo, Soyo, Nóqui and Cuimba share a border with the DRC, for a total of 310 kilometres.
