Africa-Press – Angola. The National Police in Cuando Cubango recently thwarted, in Menongue, Capital of Cuando Cubango, the sale of 34 pieces of ivory, which were in the illegal possession of national citizens.

Speaking to the press, the spokesperson for the National Police (PN) of Cuando Cubango, chief superintendent Augusto Tomás, said that the prompt intervention of officers made it possible to monitor all movements from the municipality of Calai, where the alleged criminals claim to have acquired.

He informed that they were intended to sell the 34 feathers in the Luanda market.

The police also detained two national citizens aged 30 and 50, guard and gravedigger at the Menongue municipal cemetery respectively, when they intended to sell five public lighting post bases made of aluminum, taken from the system set up inside the aforementioned Campo Santo.

As part of the proximity policing, a 34-year-old citizen was also arrested who was illegally wearing a National Police uniform and badges, including handcuffs.
