Africa-Press – Angola. The activities carried out by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, with emphasis on the working visit to the province of Huambo, where he inaugurated several social infrastructures, dominated the week’s political news.

The inaugurated infrastructures are linked to the health, media, public administration, labor and social security and culture sectors.

The province of Huambo now has an Integrated Technological Training Center (CINFOTEC) with capacity for 1,464 trainees, with more than 30 laboratories and six workshops.

CINFOTEC in Huambo will host 732 trainees in each training period and is a donation from the Chinese government to Angola, in an investment of around 30 million dollars.

João Lourenço also inaugurated CEFOJOR Huambo with innovative capabilities for training staff in various specialties in the field of communication.

A multidisciplinary cultural center was also inaugurated, called Manuel Rui, in honor of the nationalist, writer and co-author of the Angola Avante National Anthem, as well as a Hemodialysis Center.

The Head of State also visited the Agricultural Fair that took place at the Serra Van-Dúnem Multipurpose Pavilion, and evaluated the works on the Missão do Dondi University Campus, in the municipality of Catchiungo, as well as attended a service by the Evangelical Congregational Church of Angola (Evangélica Congregacional de Angola) ( ACEI).

The inauguration of the new director and deputy director of the Ceremony of the President of the Republic, respectively, Virgílio Domingos da Silva Júlio and Maria Teresa Adelaide Bento Lourenço also echoed.

At the ceremony, those inducted swore loyalty to the country, cooperation in achieving the highest purposes of the State and defense of the order established by the Constitution.

Also noteworthy are the tributes and burial in the Alto das Cruzes Cemetery of the Angolan nationalist Rui Mingas, who died in Lisbon, Portugal, victim of illness, at the age of 84.

At the wake, held at the Army Headquarters, the Head of State wrote in the book of condolences about Rui Mingas’ achievements as a nationalist, sportsman, diplomat, deputy and rector of a private university.

He added that, on several fronts and in different roles, the deceased represented the country with talent and dignity, starting by raising Angola’s name in professional athletics and, from a very early age, established himself as a composer and singer, including the National Anthem, and as a symbol of resistance against colonial power.

In turn, the Vice-President of the Republic, Esperança da Costa, wrote in the book that Rui Mingas’ achievements in politics, diplomacy, sport and art transcend borders and make the country great.

AN mentioned, in a eulogy, that the deputies bow to the memory of Rui Mingas for the work that continues for a fair and developed Angola.

Ambassador Marcos Barrica, representing Angolan diplomacy, highlighted that the deceased, as head of the diplomatic mission in Portugal, played a preponderant role in the prestige and good name of the “mother country”, in a context of great political transformation with the extinction of the Soviet Union and German unification.

The return to the Executive of the Proposed Law on Public Funds by the National Assembly also marked the political news of the week.

The National Assembly (AN) returned to the Executive, during the joint specialty meeting, the Proposed Law on the General Regime of Public Funds for due improvement.

The Proposed Law on the General Regime of Public Funds, assessed by the Council of Ministers and sent to the AN, establishes the legal regime applicable to the creation, organization, operation, management, supervision, evaluation and extinction of public funds.

On the other hand, it was announced that the AN Plenary will hold, on the 25th of this month, the final global vote on the proposed Law on Combating the Smuggling of Petroleum Products, which passed, this Friday, through the specialized working committees.

With four chapters and 22 articles, the Executive’s initiative diploma was unanimously approved, in particular, during the joint meeting of the committees responsible for the matter (1st, 2nd, 5th and 10th committees), with parliamentarians suggesting some changes in matters of form, amendments and corrections of terms.
