Africa-Press – Angola. The exchange of views on the challenges of Portuguese-speaking African Countries (PALOP) dominated the audience that the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, granted to the general secretaries of the former national liberation movements.
At the courtesy meeting, this Monday, the Angolan Head of State received the general secretaries of the PAICV, Julião Correia Varela, from Cape Verde, and of the PAIGC, António Patrocínio Silva, from Guinea Bissau.
They were also received by President João Lourenço, FRELIMO’s secretary general, Roque Silva Samuel, from Mozambique, as well as the secretary for International Relations of the MLSTP-PSD, Edite Ten Jua, from São Tomé and Príncipe.
At the end of the meeting, Roque Silva Samuel, from FRELIMO, told the press that the meeting also served to congratulate and encourage President João Lourenço for the advances in the process of political and economic reforms underway in Angola.
“We also report on aspects related to the realities of our countries, based on efforts for the common development of peoples”, informed the politician.
The general secretaries of the former PALOP liberation movements are in Luanda to participate in a meeting of the institution, under the motto “United by history and in the fight for a better future”.
PALOP is the name given to a regional cooperation group that brings together African countries whose official language is Portuguese, in the case of Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea Bissau, Mozambique and São Tomé and Príncipe.
