Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, congratulated the people and the Government of Côte d’Ivoire, on the celebration of the sixty-third anniversary of the independence of this African country, which is celebrated yesterday.

“I take advantage of the occasion that this date gives me to praise the excellent relations of friendship and cooperation existing between our two countries”, says the Angolan Head of State in the missive, published on the official page of the Presidency of the Republic.

In the message sent to his Ivorian counterpart, Alassane Ouattara, the President of the Republic refers that Angola and Côte d’Ivoire have a crucial role to play in the bilateral framework and in the collective progress of Africa.

In 1958, Côte d’Ivoire was proclaimed an autonomous Republic within the French community, but it was not until 1960 that independence was fully achieved.
