Africa-Press – Angola. The privatization of Sociedade Gestora de Aeroportos (SGA) is scheduled for the last quarter of this year, announced 18th in Luanda, the chairman of the Board of Directors of the Institute for Asset Management and State Participation (IGAPE) , Patricio Vilar.

Speaking to the press, at the end of a meeting with the Board of Directors of SGA, the manager said that previous actions relating to the accounts and the profitability strategy of each of the airports must be consolidated before the tender for the bid.

Regarding the collection of revenue in that society, he stressed that, “more than raising funds, it is important to make companies viable, when they already have some liabilities on them, thus guaranteeing the recovery and viability of the institution” .

On the occasion, the PCA of IGAPE pointed out that the biggest challenge in the privatization process is to enlist the technological partner of the management of the airports, which can help to consolidate the strategy for the development of the institutions.

According to Patrício Vilar, the expectation surrounding the privatization of SGA is not that of raising funds, but that in the future there will be an airport activity in Angola that will allow maintaining the recognition already achieved at an international level.

On his turn, the chairman of the Board of Directors of Sociedade Gestora de Aeroportos, Mário Domingues, referred that the privatization of the institution will help to improve the performance of the employees, allowing more knowledge for the activity that is intended to be of public interest.

He made known that last year the 4 de Fevereiro International Airport was recognized by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO or ICAO), for having met the conditions to operate international flights, within the norms of the manuals of that world body.

He added that, during the course of this year, the certification of Catumbela Airport, in Benguela province, is expected to have an international vocation.

As for the financial condition of the company, Mário Domingues explained that Sociedade Gestora de Aeroportos has resorted to bank financing to certify airports, which is why it advocates the creation of own funds for its management.

SGA is a public limited company with the status of a company in the public domain, qualified to operate the civil aviation airport public service, embodied in the establishment, management and development of airport infrastructures that may be handed over to it by the Executive.

Meanwhile, the meeting between IGAPE and SGA (created in 2019, resulting from the split of Empresa Nacional de Navegação e Exploração Aérea – ENANA) took place within the scope of strengthening cooperation in monitoring the operational activity of public companies and in the public domain.
