Africa-Press – Angola. The governor of Cunene, Gerdina Didalelwa, reiterated yesterday in Ondjiva the Government’s commitment to combating hunger and poverty, especially in rural areas, by promoting agricultural production and socioeconomic development, with the aim of guaranteeing food security and empowering the most vulnerable families. During a meeting with municipal administrators, during which issues related to the installation of new municipal administrations, created within the framework of the new Political-Administrative Division (DPA), and the development of the program to combat poverty in the old municipalities were discussed, Gerdina Didalelwa called on the new administrators to make efforts to overcome the current challenges linked to the progress of the communities. The minister said that it was necessary to define the goals well and adapt the programmes to reality, so that they would be reflected in the quality of life of families. She also recommended the creation of a database to facilitate monitoring and diversification of beneficiaries so that all families covered could enjoy the benefits of the programme.
Within the framework of the new Political-Administrative Division (DPA), the province of Cunene has municipalities that face difficulties from an organisational and administrative point of view, due to the lack of adequate infrastructure for their operation.
The meeting also addressed issues related to the issuing of Identity Cards in the province, routine vaccination campaigns for children, land use planning and basic sanitation.
