Africa-Press – Angola. The proposal to reduce Value Added Tax (VAT) from 14 to seven percent, presented recently by the Angolan government, is among the highlights on the agenda of the 3rd JMPLA national methodology meeting, taking place Friday, at city of Cuito (Bié).
Speaking at the opening act of the conclave, the leader of this organization, Crispiniano dos Santos, said that the action could significantly alleviate the pressure on families, as it would allow a reduction in the prices of the basic food basket in the national market.
According to the politician responsible, this measure will also stimulate the increase in the purchasing power of families.
He recalled that the matter is already under discussion in the National Assembly and JMPLA is pleased with the proposal.
Under the motto “JMPLA love the country and make Angola grow”, the first 18 provincial secretaries and their assistants, as well as the first 164 municipal secretaries of this organization, participate in the meeting.
The meeting, which ends friday, is also analyzing aspects linked to the political and social work of this MPLA youth organization.
Crispiniano dos Santos underlined that, at this meeting, the participants will also prepare the IX ordinary congress of JMPLA, scheduled for 2024, which will be based on several fundamental objectives, such as the reinforcement of internal democracy and the improvement of organizational mechanisms.
The functioning of the JMPLA, affirmation of support for the leader and the defense of the party’s ideals, instilling in young people a love of the country, making Angola grow, the relaunch of the JMPLA as a true force of the Angolan youth are also included in the themes for the next congress, which will also serve as an assessment and renewal of mandates.
For his part, the first secretary of the MPLA in Bié, Pereira Alfredo, stressed that the meeting will revitalize the action of the party’s youth and help the organization to transform the aspirations of the fringe into valid contributions to public policies.
However, he said that the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, has been betting heavily on youth, giving them the responsibility of leading so that they start taking steps”, he stressed.
