Africa-Press – Angola. The vice-president of the Parliament of the Central African Republic (CAR), Bernard Dillah, this Monday expressed gratitude for the support that the Angolan government provided to his country “in the most difficult moments”.

The RCA deputy’s recognition was expressed at the end of a meeting with the president of the National Assembly, Carolina Cerqueira.

He emphasized that when his country “went through difficult times, Angola was always on our side and President João Lourenço remains as a mediator in all the crises we are going through”.

He noted that his country’s parliamentary delegation came to express, personally, this gratitude to the National Assembly, in its capacity as the people’s representative.

Bernard Dillah, who heads his country’s parliamentary delegation, was also the bearer of a missive from the president of the CAR Parliament to his Angolan counterpart, Carolina Cerqueira, the content of which was not revealed.

In 2021, at a meeting of the Security Council on the CAR, the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, as acting president of the CIRGL, defended the end of the arms embargo on the CAR and asked for more international support for peace and security, as well as such as the neutralization of dissident forces in the country.

At the moment, there are seven cooperation agreements between Angola and CAR, namely the General Cooperation Agreement, Protocol on Regular Political and Diplomatic Consultations, Protocol on the Indicative Cooperation Programme, Financial Support Protocol, Memorandum of Understanding, Revised General Agreement of Cooperation and Memorandum of Understanding on Political Consultations.

Located in the heart of Africa and landlocked, RCA achieved its independence from France in 1960.
