Africa-Press – Angola. The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) announced Tuesday that it had received a record number of 33 requests for sports to be included in the Los Angeles ‘2028 Paralympic Games program, among which are the 22 that will be in competition in 2024.
According to the IPC, in addition to the 22 sports that will be part of the Paris’2024 Games program, the same ones that were played at the Tokyo’2020 Games, submitted applications for the modalities of fighting, climbing, football for athletes with cerebral palsy, golf, karate. , dancing, electric chair football, sailing, surfing, wheelchair handball and beach volleyball.
The IPC assures that it will analyze the requests, in close collaboration with the Organizing Committee, indicating that the final decision will be announced in January 2023. Colleen Wrenn, responsible for the Organizing Committee of the Paralympic Games of the
IPC, considered that “receiving a record number of 33 requests for modalities shows the growing strength of sport for people with disabilities within the global sports movement”.
