Africa-Press – Angola. Angolan sailors João Artur and Felipe André represent the country, from the 10th to the 20th of this month, at the ILCA 7 World Sailing Championship, in the Netherlands, which qualifies for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The national duo, who are already on the stage of the competition, on stage, have been working on adapting to the local sea, wind and swell, in sessions based on various techniques, such as starts and turns, in addition to movement.

According to the vice-president of the Angolan Nautical Sports Federation, for sailing, Nuno Gomes, who is part of the delegation, told that the group will start, this Wednesday, working with the English coach Jon Emmett.

He added that the objective is to give competitive experience to sailors, aiming to gain endurance, to dispute the title of African champion, in December, in Egypt.

This event, which involves over 100 competitors, is held every four years, in the middle of each Olympic cycle.

Angola participated for the first time in this event in 2017, in Spain, with sailor Manuel Lelo.

Frenchman Jean-Baptiste Bernaz is the defending champion of the event, held in Mexico.
