Africa-Press – Angola. Desportivo São Salvador do Kongo, from the province of Zaire, drew 1-1 this Sunday with 1.o de Agosto, in a match on the 13th round of the National Championship (Girabola 2023/2024).

The goals of the match, held at the Álvaro Buta municipal stadium, in Mbanza Kongo, were scored in the first half.

São Salvador do Kongo opened the scoring in the 35th minute, through the Polish striker, while Bruno de Jesus, from the opposing team, restored equality seven minutes later.

Although they dominated the game, São Salvador do Kongo were unable to convert the numerous opportunities they had, to once again breach the experienced goalkeeper Neblú’s goal.

At five minutes, for example, the CDSSK athlete, Landry, failed to aim as he shot wide, even with the goal wide open, wasting the move that would result in the first goal of the match.

A minute later, MC, also from the home team, made a header that forced a very tight save from goalkeeper Neblú.

The host team sent the visitor back to their own half, a situation from which 1.o de Agosto only escaped after 31 minutes, with the first dangerous shot on goal saved by Valdez, who had few interventions during the first 45 minutes..

In the complementary part, the coach of 1.o de Agosto, Filipe Zanza, replaced the player Manu in place of Liliano, a substitution that gave greater poise to the team that moved up the lines to attack in search of the winning goal.

In response, the opposing coach, Finda Mozer, made a double substitution, removing striker Landry and Filhão replacing him, while Mané replaced Geuda.

Unsatisfied with the poor performance, Filipe Zanza made changes again, placing Filipe and Moisés in the places of Bruno de Jesus and Tombe, respectively, yet the balance of the game continued to be the focus of the game with alternating attacks from both teams.

Declarations

At the end of the match, the coach of São Salvador do Kongo, Finda Mozer, complained about the lack of effectiveness of his players, praising, however, the defensive sector that blocked the opponent’s strategy.

“Unfortunately, we were not effective, even with the game under control. The team started well in the first half, we managed to neutralize the opponent’s strengths, but we didn’t take advantage of the opportunities”, he lamented.

The coach of 1.o de Agosto, Filipe Nzanza, valued the São Salvador team and recognized the repercussions that his team suffered, especially in the first half.

He regretted the high temperatures that were felt in Mbanza Kongo, which in his opinion had some influence on the performance of his players.

In the next round, São Salvador do Kongo travels to the province of Uíge to play Santa Rita de Acácias.
