Africa-Press – Angola. The Secretary of State for Local Authorities, Fernando da Paixão André Manuel, on Wednesday highlighted the implementation of the country’s new Political-Administrative Division (DPA) in the management based on good practices in matters of territorial and urban development.

When intervening at the ceremony of launching the “Local Development Week”, an initiative of the Ministry of Territory Administration (MAT), the official said the new DPA aims to promote the sustainable and harmonious development of the national territory, where the financial resources are maximized for the benefits of the local population.

To this end, he defended the continuous bet on territory planning programs and urban development, because they constitute the essential pillars for the structured and functional growth of cities and villages.

It reaffirmed the Angolan Executive’s commitment to build an increasingly prosperous and cohesive Angola, bringing basic social services together with the populations.

He said that for this year, 326 circumscriptions from the country are confirmed to participate in the Fair of Municipalities and Cities of Angola, which will be held in the coming days in the province of Benguela, under the “Local Development Week”, inserted in the 50th anniversary celebrations of national independence.

For its part, Cabinda’s deputy governor for the political and social sector, Miguel de Oliveira, highlighted the importance of the Fair of Municipalities and Cities of Angola in promoting the exchange between the country’s regions in local governance.

Members of the local government participated in the act, municipal administrations, representatives of business associations and guests.
