Secretary of State reiterates commitment to continuous teacher training

Africa-Press – Angola. The Secretary of State for Pre-School and General Education, Pacheco Francisco, reaffirmed, this Tuesday, the Ministry of Education’s commitment to permanent training of teachers, aiming at improving their performance and raising the quality of education .

Speaking to the press, after an audience with the provincial governor of Malanje, Marcos Alexandre Nhunga, the official stressed the importance of continuous training of teachers so that they can respond to new educational requirements.

Pacheco Francisco defended, on the other hand, the supervision of teachers in the classroom, in order to assess the teaching methodologies applied as one of the indicators for achieving satisfactory results in terms of learning.

He explained that the Ministry of Education (MED) is preparing, for the next few days, training on teaching techniques, which will bring together agents of the teaching and learning process from all over the country, with a view to improving their skills.

According to the person in charge, the quality of teaching is a concern of the MED, hence the orientation of the provincial and municipal departments in order to train more and more teachers, with a view to overcoming learning issues.

On the other hand, the official made it known that another concern of the sector relates to the reduced number of vacancies in the country for primary education up to the 10th, resulting from the shortage of schools to meet the growing student population.

In this sense, he stressed that the State is drawing up strategies to, in the short term, provide a solution to this problem.

Meanwhile, he recognized that there are financial difficulties to adequately prepare for the academic year 2023/2024 but, even so, he guaranteed that the Ministry is making efforts so that classes run smoothly in the country.

The Secretary of State has been working since Monday in Malanje, stage of the National School Games, which starts tuesday and runs until the 31st of this month.

The event, which aims to promote cultural socialization, will count on the participation of 16 provinces, with the exception of Benguela and Zaire, and 711 elements, including students, physical education teachers and leaders.
