Africa-Press – Angola. The secretary of the Social Renewal Party (PRS) in the municipality of Jamba Mineira, Huíla province, Manuel Jaime Caunda, has resigned and joined the MPLA, stating that he identifies with the latter’s values and its capacity to solve the people’s problems.
Manuel Jaime Caunda announced his decision over the weekend during a mass political rally commemorating the MPLA’s 69th anniversary, which was attended by militants, cadres, and local leaders.
The politician formally communicated his resignation from the PRS through a letter, ending 23 years of activity in the party, “a decision taken after conscious reflection and motivated by personal reasons.”
The now MPLA member explained that he decided to leave the party because he no longer identifies with its ideas; however, he says he is motivated by the governing party’s ability to bring people together and its experience in leading the country.Meanwhile, the second secretary of the MPLA Municipal Committee in Jamba Mineira, Estefânia Cabaça, welcomed Caunda, emphasizing that the party remains firm in defining strategies to face the challenges of local communities.
She highlighted the MPLA’s commitment to the values of peace, freedom, and progress, as well as the importance of maintaining its active presence in society.
She stated that the new member’s affiliation strengthens the party’s base in Jamba Mineira and represents a significant political realignment in the municipality.
