Africa-Press – Angola. Seventeen thousand families residing in Chongoroi municipality, Benguela province, will benefit, in the next thirty days, from social monetary transfers, under the KWENDA programme.
The municipal director of Social Action, Evaristo Pedro Gabriel, informed that the program had been interrupted since 2021, when it started, and only resumed in March of this year.
“This year, families will receive 11,000 kwanzas per month, instead of 8,500 kz of 2021, creating enormous satisfaction for the community”, he explained.
As for investment, according to the director, it is generally directed towards the activities they already carry out, such as the purchase of poultry, cattle and agricultural inputs, although there are individuals who aspire to stronger projects, but not fleeing their habits and customs.
Regarding inspection, he said that it is the responsibility of the Integrated Social Support Center (CASI), to find out if families are really getting out of the poverty level.
“There are individuals who did not understand the purpose of the program and misused the money, spending it on parties or using it to buy objects with no return”, he said.
Evaristo Gabriel took the opportunity to appeal to families to take the program seriously and invest responsibly, as they will only benefit from those monetary transfers over a period of two years.
The KWENDA program is operated by the Social Support Fund (FAS), which, in coordination with other anti-poverty programs, contributes to promoting the sustainable development of communities.
In addition to monetary social transfers, KWENDA has the components of productive inclusion, municipalization of Social Action, through the creation of Integrated Social Action Centers (CASI) and the strengthening of the Single Social Register.
