Africa-Press – Angola. Three Angolan citizens, aged between 39 and 45, were arrested on Sunday by the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) for alleged involvement in the possession and trafficking of three tons and 547 kilograms of marijuana.

The information was given by the head of Institutional Communication and Press of the SIC in Malanje, Augusto Barros André, who highlighted that the individuals, who were traveling separately in two vehicles with the drugs, were arrested in the town of Mulondo, municipality of Cambundi Catembo.

He specified that the drugs were destined for the country’s capital, Luanda, where they would be sold for 14 million kwanzas.

Augusto André explained that one of the accused is a member of the Civil Protection Fire Service and the other citizen, a long-time participant in this practice, is considered one of the largest suppliers of marijuana to Luanda.

He explained that as a result of the illicit business, the accused even acquired two “seized” vehicles that were used to transport the product.

Those involved will be brought before the Public Prosecutor’s Office for legal proceedings.
