Africa-Press – Angola. At least 37,968 families from the Quibala and Lonhe municipalities in the Cuanza-Sul province received 66,000 kwanzas each on Tuesday under the Social Protection Strengthening Program (Kwenda).
During the event, Cuanza-Sul Governor Narciso Benedito said this financial support should be used responsibly and with a vision for the future.
He added that 37,698 families in the two municipalities were registered to receive 66,000 kwanzas, or 11,000 kwanzas per month.
Carolina Sanito, the head of the Institute for Local Development (FAS), said that of those registered, 29,579 households are from Quibala and 8,119 are from Lonhe.
Sanito recalled that the monetary transfers aim to strengthen the social protection, dignity, and productive inclusion of families in situations of greater vulnerability.
Twelve municipalities in Cuanza-Sul have already benefited from Kwenda: Seles, Amboiva, Ebo, Condé, Quilenda, Quirimbo, Cassongue, Pambangala, Mussende, and Quienha. A total of 164,106 people have benefited.
