Africa-Press – Angola. The Head of State of Zambia, Hakainde Hichilema, this Wednesday appealed to the Angolan Parliament for the creation of laws that can increasingly strengthen the consolidation of democracy, peace and security.

The Zambian statesman was speaking at the Solemn Plenary Meeting in his honor, on the occasion of the State visit to Angola, aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation.

For the Statesman, peace and stability constitute a crucial expedient, and parliaments must, in this struggle, be at the forefront.

He noted that the legacy of the two countries focuses on several areas of common interest, namely “cultural, names and even blood and geographic ties, as we share several kilometers of border”.

He said that this historical link means that “our futures are also linked, we are a stakeholder in each other’s development journeys”.

He said it was for this reason that the two countries should be guardian partners and, above all, responsible partners, from his twin point of view.

On the occasion, he congratulated Carolina Cerqueira on her election as President of the Angolan Parliament and on her contribution to social affairs and inclusive democratic governance in Angola

He noted that Angola and Zambia share historical ties that extend beyond the government-to-government relationship, noting that there are more than 30,000 Angolans living in Zambia.

This is the first visit by the highest representative of an African country at the beginning of the V Legislature of the National Assembly.
