Africa-Press – Angola. The approach to improving access to basic social services, greater support to the productive sector, with emphasis on agribusiness, are among the main concerns presented in the public consultation on the Long-Term Strategy (ELP Angola – 2050).
Among other issues addressed, are the effective connection of the national territory, with rail and land communication routes, and improvement of the business environment.
The public consultation, held from May 19 to June 15 of this year, collected contributions from a consultation exercise with 2,280 citizens in person, with the Ministry of Economy and Planning (MEP) portal receiving 51 direct contributions.
According to MEP data, 26 sessions were promoted throughout the country, including specific ones for political parties, the diplomatic corps, development partners, academia, civil society, the private sector, the diaspora, among others.
At the usual briefing by the Ministry of Economy and Planning, the interim director of the National Directorate of Planning, Adilson do Rosário da Silva, explained that the consultations also pointed to the need for continuous deduction of regional asymmetries, guaranteeing the deconcentration of economic activity and more attention to ecotourism.
“The reduction or elimination of the gap between programming and execution, clarifying and highlighting the approach to risk in the process of implementing the strategy, positive effects of population growth and better use of the demographic dividend, as well as improving the quality of education as a whole “, he said.
He added that the population also defended the need to direct the approach of pre-school education to kindergartens and “not restrict day care centers”.
He made it known that the axis on “A society that values human capital” concentrated most of the contributions, in the order of 54%, followed by the axis on “A modern and competitive infrastructure”, with 14%, “A diversified society prosperous”, 24%, “Resilient and sustainable ecosystem”, 2%, and the “Fair notion, with equal opportunities”, with 6%.
According to the same, the sessions were transmitted remotely via You Tube, with a live audience of 109 thousand 877 internet users, followed by 7 thousand 259 views, with 581 hours.
The person in charge indicated that a good part of Internet users reside in the country, with a representation of 57%, Brazil 17%, Portugal 4.9%, Mozambique with 0.9%, among others.
The Long-Term Strategy-Angola 2050 is the basic tool for the elaboration of the National Development Plan (PDN), which presents the strategic options for the country’s long-term development, being elaborated based on analysis of scenarios, for the national levels , sectoral and territorial.
It is a bifocal plan, with a clear vision of what is intended for the country in the future, but clearly and decisively articulating short-term initiatives that ensure the right direction.
The document predicts that the Non-Oil Gross Domestic Product (NP-GDP) will grow 3.3 times, from 84 to 275 billion dollars (USD), by 2050, with a population of the country estimated at 70 million inhabitants.
ELP – Angola 2050 also predicts that Non-Oil Per Capita GDP will increase by around 1.2 times, from the current 3,67 thousand to 4,215 thousand dollars, with the support of non-oil exports which are expected to grow 13 times more, going from five thousand to USD 64 billion.
The GDP, which currently stands at USD 122 billion, is expected to reach USD 286 billion, which will represent growth of 2.4 times more and the Public Debt will see a reduction of 6%, from 66 to 60 percent over the GDP.
For the next 27 years, within the framework of Angola 2050, the life expectancy of Angolans will increase by six years, from 62 to 68 years of age.
