Swimming Federation inaugurates new starting blocks

Africa-Press – Angola. New starting blocks, already installed at the Alvalade Pool, in Luanda, will be inaugurated Saturday, on the eve of the start of the National Swimming Championship by category, under the auspices of the Angolan federation of the sport.

This is an unprecedented change at this level that puts an end to the reinforced concrete blocks of the only Olympic tank in Luanda, built 58 years ago.

Acquired last April, in South Africa, they were not applied in the phase of the African Championship of zone IV disputed, in Luanda, by strategic option of the squad of the Angolan Swimming Federation (FAN), directed by Joaquim Santos.

With the application of this material in the 50-meter-long tank, the national competition is increasingly complete and modernized, after the placement of the separators, wave breaker system, last April and electronic chronometer, in 2021.

During the “national” by categories whose 1o de Agosto and Clube Náutico are the main contenders for the title, the athletes will be submitted to four rounds, two on Saturday and the same number on Sunday.

Swimmers from 1o de Agosto, ADEOA, Clube Náutico, Naval and Onda Sport Club will participate in the event.
