Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, met, on Thursday, in Beijing, with the Group of Ambassadors of the Southern African Development Community, accredited by the People’s Republic of China, in his capacity as president of the SADC Council of Ministers.

According to a note sent, the meeting took place at the headquarters of the African Union in the Chinese capital, and served to review issues inherent to the regional agenda, with emphasis on Angola’s rotating presidency of SADC, during the period 2023-2024.

During the meeting, which lasted approximately one hour, Minister Téte António and the Group of SADC Ambassadors accredited in China also spoke about the political and security situation in the Southern African Development Community, with particular emphasis on the conflicts in Eastern DRC and in Mozambique.

SADC ambassadors also focused on the general elections in the region, mainly in DRC (this month), Union of Comoros (February 2024), South Africa (May 2024), Mozambique and Botswana (October 2024 ), as well as in Namibia and Mauritius (November 2024).

Finally, they referred to relations with international cooperation partners, such as China. For the ambassadors, the Asian giant is one of the traditional cooperation partners with the SADC countries, especially in the field of infrastructure development, with a great impact in the areas of Communications and Information Technology.
