Africa-Press – Angola. The head of Angolan diplomacy, Téte António, traveled this Saturday to Bujumbura, in Burundi, to visit the headquarters of the International Conference for the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR).
Téte António visits the ICGLR headquarters as acting president of the Interministerial Committee of the International Conference of the Great Lakes Region, to observe “in loco” the technical-administrative, financial and functional state of this regional organization, according to a press release from MIREX. On this trip, the note adds, Minister Téte António will be accompanied by senior staff from the department he manages.
The ICGLR, under the leadership of the Angolan ambassador, João Caholo, is an intergovernmental organization founded on the basis of the Pact on Security, Stability and Development of the aforementioned geographical area, composed of 12 member states, namely Angola, Burundi, Central African Republic, Republic of Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Sudan, South Sudan, Tanzania and Zambia.
The International Conference for the Great Lakes Region, the note explains, aims to promote peace, security, stability and sustainable development in the Great Lakes region.
