Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Japanese multinational Toyota, Ichiro Kashitani, was this Friday at the Lobito Refinery, Benguela province, to find out about the construction works, the existing support infrastructures, as well as their future operation .
Ichiro Kashitani received explanations about the location of the refinery, the geophysical studies, the excavations, the drainage system, among other items.
Although he did not speak to the press, press learned that the President of Toyota questioned the coordinator of that manufacturing unit, Guiomar Correia, about the company’s main challenges, investments and whether the recruitment of future workers is only local, as well as the oil companies that will collaborate.
On the occasion, the governor of Benguela province, Luis Nunes, who accompanied the Japanese delegation’s visit for a few hours, assured that, with the Lobito Refinery and Corridor fully operational, the province will gain more investment and will provide more jobs. and better living conditions for the populations.
“We will be in a position to make Benguela the biggest logistics center in the country”, stated the governor.
The Lobito Refinery, also known as SONAREF, is located 35 kilometers northwest of the city of Benguela.
It has a coverage area of 3,800 hectares and was designed to produce 200,000 barrels of oil per day.
Eight thousand direct and indirect jobs will be available at that factory, according to calculations by SONANGOL, owner of the project.
