Africa-Press – Angola. The TuriAgro farm, in the municipality of Dande, province of Bengo, intends, this year, to increase the current production rate of 12 thousand tons of bananas/year, to 16 thousand.
For the increase, the company is counting on increasing cultivation areas from 350 to 400 hectares.
With a current average production of 50 tons/day of bananas, TuriAgro also produces papaya, guava, passion fruit and has pitaya in the experimental phase, said agronomist, Adamilton Alves Santos.
The farm has an area of 400 hectares, of which 200 are banana production, 30 papaya, 10 passion fruit and five guava.
The company created 500 jobs, mostly national, with 20 percent of the workforce being female and 80 percent male.
Due to the increase in cultivation areas, in 2022 the project recorded an increase in production of 12 thousand tons compared to the previous year in which it harvested 10 thousand tons of bananas.
